Best Flowering Trees to Add Color to Your Garden

Flowering trees are a wonderful way to add color to your garden. And as an added bonus, some trees that feature glorious flower shows also bear fruit. Here are half a dozen of the most popular flowering trees to consider:

1. Crabapple: This tree needs full sun but provides a spectacular show of blossoms and leaves before producing fruit that can become jelly by holiday time.

2. Cherry: Why travel to Washington, DC when you can have a cherry festival in your own backyard with this tree's white and pink floral clusters every spring. Sweet cherry and sour cherry varieties produce fruit, but the ornamental Japanese cherry wows you with its fragrant bouquets alone.

3. Flowering Dogwood: Does well in partial shade to full sun, producing small green flowers in springtime, with leaves that turn deep red, pink or purple by the fall.

4. Goldenchain Tree: The perfect choice to add a splash of vibrant yellow to your landscaping, this tree thrives in partial shade conditions.

5. Crape Myrtle: Choose Seminole for vibrant pinks, Natchez for showy white flowers,or Catawba if you love deep purple blossoms.

Simple Succulents: 10 Interesting and Inspirational photos

Looking for a way to add some color? Try simple succulents!

Succulents are relatively easy to care for, making them a favorite among home owners and business offices.  More and more, succulents can be seen in unique containers such as boots, sea shells, pieces of drift wood, and local handmade pottery.

Check out this variety! Whether it’s in a frame or a more eclectic material (such as a shutter) succulents grow well vertically. One of the best things about gardening with succulents vertically is that so many interesting patterns can be made.

Beautiful! This designer did such a wonderful job with color! Although this arrangement is monochromatic, the mint green really pops against the brighter greens.

These fish bowl type hangers would work very well with modern decor. So much can be done! Colorful rocks, or colored sand could really help these stand out. Be careful not to over-water in a container such as this. Succulents do well with drainage, so if you choose a material such as glass, be sure to line the bottom with rocks and/or sand.

Remember chia pets? This is a bit of a different approach, but the sentiment is similar. What a lovely garden ornament.

This arrangement is absolutely stunning. A mini version of an arrangement like this would make a beautiful centerpiece for an outdoor summer wedding.

Baskets fit into a variety of themes from french country to southern charm. The varying heights of these woven baskets create a focal point without over crowding the space.

This is just amazing. Metal or painted wood? Either way, it sure is creative.

This simple pottery beautifully displays the variety of plants contained. Purple and green contrast well and are excellent color choices!

It makes perfect sense to place succulents in rock crevices. New plans for the backyard, anyone?

Truly, this is one of the classiest designs yet.

Trendy succulents

  • Jade Plant (Crassula ovata)

  • Panda Plant (Kalanchoe tomentosa)

  • Snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata)

Watering tips: Wait to water until the soil is dry. If arrangement/design allows, soak the base in water instead of watering from above.  During the warmer months, succulents can be watered about once a week.

Plant in sandy soil. Choose a soil that doesn’t hold too much moisture. Ensure that your container has proper drainage. A waterlogged succulent is a dead succulent.

Give them sunlight, but protect them from hot, damaging sun. Too much direct heat will cause your succulent to wither.

Landscape for Less with Low Cost Plants
Landscaping can be a scary proposition. The potential for improving one's yard is fantastic. At the same time, the idea of the cost can be rather nerve wracking. However, it is quite possible to create an amazing presentation in one's yard without spending too much money. If one keeps a few guidelines in mind, one can do a fantastic job of landscaping without breaking the bank.

The first thing to keep in mind is that cheap plants and cheap trees don't mean low quality. The price of artificially constructed items does tend to go along with the quality of construction. For a wholesale grower, quite often the price has more to do with the difficulties in shipping or preparation. A landscaper who knows what he or she is looking for can use this knowledge to their advantage.

Take cheap trees, for example. One can save a lot of money by buying bare root trees. The trees themselves are usually of the same high quality as their more expensive alternative options. The bare rooting method is simply easier and less costly to ship, and the resulting savings are passed on to the customer. Even a single tree bought in that manner will create some savings. If one's filling a full yard with trees though, the resulting savings will be significant.

The issue of quality is significant though. Obviously one shouldn't buy plants that are infested with parasites or just generally in very poor health. However, at the same time one can often get significant savings on cheap plants by not demanding the highest quality. What people often forget is that plants are living things. A plant that's in a somewhat average state at a nursery can often become grand with enough care and attention. The main thing to remember with this strategy is that the species of plant does not always guarantee how to take care of it. As with any living being, an individual might have slightly different needs than it's relatives. Pay attention to what helps the plant and what doesn't.

Of course the actual location where plants are bought will often be one of the biggest deciding factors in overall cost. Buying local will often bring about some savings. In particular, shipping costs can often build up rather quickly. Someone living in Tennessee for example, might be best served by looking for a Tennessee nursery. Simply shipping across a state line can be enough to raise the price a wholesale grower needs to charge for plants. The savings will also stack up by buying locally if one needs multiple shipments. For example, the above example of someone in Tennessee who buys from a Tennessee nursery would have to pay that extra shipping cost multiple times if buying multiple shipments from out of state.

Landscape Your Property For Under $200

Landscaping for Under $200

Everyone wants a yard that looks like it cost a fortune. At the same time, nobody wants to spend a fortune to do so. Many people are surprised to find that an amazing yard can actually be had for under $200. The trick is to combine smart landscaping choices and a little applied psychology alongside a good buy from a wholesale nursery that has cheap trees and plants!

First, one needs to carefully examine the area to be landscaped. Take note of what plants can be used as the foundation for the new items. The most important tool one has is trees. The ideal yard is one that's full of life and color, or at least one that appears to be. In much the same way that an illusion of space can be created indoors with decorating, landscaping can give different impressions of the actual reality. Trees serve as a focal point for one's eyes. Both passersby and guests will find their eyes drawn to the largest plants in the yard. By carefully positioning plants between trees, it's possible to leave one with an impression of far more plant life than is actually there. This will save a great deal of money when getting started. Two classics for this purpose are an Astilbe or Hardy Primrose. The former for smaller areas and the latter for larger spaces. If using the two together, one can create a striking mix of pink and white which will further serve to draw one's gaze to the scene as a whole around the trees. Both of these options are quite modestly priced, and this will reduce the overall cost. Additionally, one can further cultivate plants from them as time goes by in order to save even more. Additional larger plants can then be positioned within the interior space in order to create a fuller effect. This can be even more striking if one attempts to essentially create rings of concentric circles within the larger area.

One will probably need more trees as well to carry off the effect. Buy cheap plants of quality and the only way you can do this is from a grower, so it's imperative to cut costs there as much as possible. One thing to keep in mind is that bare root trees costs less. The labor and materials needed to ship a bare root tree is quite modest in comparison to a standard planted variety. The savings can and should be passed down to customers who decide on them. Because bare root trees costs less, one can stock up on them and more fully flesh out the general layout of one's yard.

Lastly, the reason to buy from a wholesale nursery will be quite clear. One needs to ensure first and foremost that the plants are going to be healthy and not require replacement. The other reason comes down to shipping costs. To keep costs down it's best to ensure that the plants all come from the same location. When one buys plants from a single store, the shipping costs can usually be shared to save a great deal of money. Normal shipping can be somewhat expensive to being with. Shipping of larger items which need to move as quickly as possible can build up the cost quite quickly if precautions aren't taken. By minimizing the number of shipments, one creates a huge savings for the landscaping project. And if one takes all of these tips into consideration, it's quite possible to achieve amazing results for under $200.
