The common garden variety of Burning Bush can grow up to 6-7 feet tall in height and around 5 feet in width. It can be pruned to maintain desired shape. However, its natural shape is also quite beautiful and the plant does not require regular trimming. It has beautiful pointed leaves drooping from the stems that turn red in color in fall season. The plant also bears inconspicuous tiny white or yellow colored flowers around spring and small red berries that attract wildlife to the garden. The birds and other wildlife loves to feed on these tiny berries.

Burning Bush can easily be grown from cuttings or bare roots purchased from a nursery. It should be planted in moist but well drained. For best results and brilliant autumn colors, it is advisable to plant Burning Bush in full sunlight. Though, it can also tolerate partial or less sunlight.These versatile shrubs can be used around the garden, besides driveways or walkways or as a focal point in the landscape. No matter where you grow them, they will certainly shine and make their presence known.

After some years, the shrub may outgrow and become thin and shabby. It is advisable to prune and thin it out occasionally to trigger optimal growth. The shrub might need transplanting so that it keeps flourishing. You can easily re-plant it in a bigger and sunnier spot to make sure that it thrives. This low maintenance plant is sure to make a big impact in any home garden.
